Wilder Research, a division of the Amherst H. Wilder Foundation in Saint Paul, Minnesota, seeks a researcher to contribute to Minnesota Compass (www.MNCompass.org) and related research projects. Minnesota Compass is a social indicators project that measures progress in areas related to quality of life, including education, economy, workforce, health, housing, civic engagement, and a host of others.

The successful candidate will participate as a researcher on the Minnesota Compass team, and will contribute to all aspects of Minnesota Compass and related research projects, including:

  • Maintaining and developing website content and related products
  • Developing study design for new projects and preparing research proposals
  • Conducting moderate to large research projects, with general guidance from supervisor or other senior research staff
  • Conducting and/or overseeing quantitative data analysis
  • Consulting, collaborating, and managing respectful and responsive relationships with colleagues, clients, and other stakeholders
  • Preparing deliverables for clients, other major stakeholder groups, and the public (e.g., tables and charts, written reports, blog-style posts, presentations)
  • Monitoring the implementation of research projects to ensure that they are carried out according to plan, on schedule, and within budget.

Candidates will bring individual initiative and innovation to projects and be able to construct and monitor project budgets, work on tight timelines, and manage multiple tasks. The successful candidate will be attentive to detail, organized, and able to work collaboratively on project teams.

Candidates with knowledge, interest, and/or experience in some combination of these areas are especially encouraged to apply:

  • Community indicators
  • Content expertise in one or more topics tracked on Minnesota Compass
  • Analysis of secondary data from large federal and state data sets and sources (e.g., U.S. Census Bureau)
  • Direct experience working in diverse community settings or with particular cultural communities
  • Project management
  • Design and management of website content
  • Public presentations and/or group facilitation
