Austin Mayor’s Mental Health Task Force Monitoring Committee (MMHTFMC) was created in response to concern over citizens stricken with severe mental illness in the Austin and Travis Counties. In order to monitor the trends, and to implement changes in social structures that would best benefit those in dire need of proper mental health care, the Task Force created thirty-nine criteria for a mentally healthy community. The Committee is made up of experts in the following “focus areas”: Schools and Youth, Criminal Justice, Housing/Access, and Community Awareness and Faith Based Activities.
