The Progress Report is a yearly snapshot of how kids are doing across Oregon. In addition to the overall assessment that we assign to the state, there are five categories that are also assessed: child welfare, family financial stability, health, and youth development. We also include a brief essay entitled the “Status of Children”, which details how kids have done over the past year and where improvements are needed.
The Progress Report gains the most media coverage for Children First for Oregon and our issues throughout the year. It’s not unusual for us to do interviews with the largest local TV and radio stations (e.g. KGW, KOIN, OPB) and to have print stories run across the state in local papers (e.g. The Oregonian, The Statesman Journal, The Medford Mail-Tribune).
The data gathered for the Report Card is supported by the Annie E. Casey Foundation KIDS COUNT grant.
