Indicators Making an Impact

Projects Driving Change in Their Community

The Los Angeles Sustainable Development Goals Indicators Project helps Los Angelenos understand the city’s progress towards accomplishing UN Sustainable Development Goals. The City customized the data underlying the indicators according to local priorities and available data points. The City cooperated with and utilized tools from the Open SDG, and the SDG National Reporting Initiative developed by the Center for Open Data Enterprise. If your community is interested in copying this platform, please refer to these efforts.

Resources That Help You Make an Impact

The City Health Dashboard provides communities with a toolkit of indicators to assess health, and the factors that drive health. The Dashboard includes over 35 health indicators, including life expectancy, obesity, and children in poverty. The dashboard includes data for U.S. cities with a population over 50,000. City leaders can use the Dashboard to target public health investments in high-need neighborhoods, identify regional priority-areas, and design evidence-based community health improvement efforts. The Robert Wood Johnson Foundation supports this Dashboard, in addition to a number of other community health indicators projects.
