Tableau Public is an open-source data visualization application that enables users to create interactive charts and dashboards. This session will give a hands on tutorial into how to create a Tableau Public dashboard from beginning to end.  Some preparation materials will be given before the workshop including how to create an account with Tableau Public, as well as steps to install the free application.

The workshop will incorporate the following materials:

  1. Preparing data for visualization.
  2. Combining multiple spreadsheets.
  3. Creating different charts:
    1. Map
    2. Bar charts
  4. Designing a complete Tableau dashboard.

Instructor:  Mohammad Yusri Jamaluddin, Data Specialist –  Michigan State University Extension

Bio: Conduct data analysis and visualization across Community, Food & Environment Institute’s work teams. Apply GIS and statistics to visualize complex community development data. Currently involved in analyzing data for homeownership in Michigan, Michigan Good Food shared measurement team, and First Impressions Tourism (FiT) program.
