CIC welcomes two new board members from Australia!

Dr. Melanie Davern is a Senior Research Fellow within the Healthy Liveable Cities Unit and Centre for Urban Design at RMIT University – Melbourne, Victoria (Australia).  Melanie was formally the Director of Community Indicators Victoria (CIV) at the McCaughey VicHealth Unit of Community Wellbeing at the University of Melbourne.

Mike Salvaris is the Project Manager at the Australian National Development Index (ANDI), a holistic measure of national progress and wellbeing, and a Senior Research Fellow, Melbourne Graduate School of Education, University of Melbourne, Melbourne, Victoria (Australia). He is a former legal aid lawyer, tenants advocate, senior policy advisor and human rights and wellbeing researcher and is co-founder of the OECD Global Progress Research Network.

Both have extensive expertise in the development and construction of community indicators, having worked closely with a range of government and community partners and are passionate about using data as a catalyst for action. They join an international board with representation in the US, Canada, and France and a focus on advancing and supporting the development, availability and effective use of community indicators for making measurable and sustainable improvements in quality of community life.
